Hmm, i'd tend to agree with LightningHell except in NR's crazy build. Which scares me.

Mantra of flame is one of the best skills in HA at the moment.

Mesmers dying... quite possible, if we are doing a dramatization in a Vabbian theater.

Other than that Me are stronger than ever. Massive damage output with Spiritual Pain, Mistrust, and the new and improved Empathy has made Me extremely powerful in PvE. Something that was long overdue and 2 campaigns couldn't fix. I see people asking for Me in Elona all the time. If anything Me have just been reborn in PvE.

Now PvP is out of question. Me have always and will always be the undisputed kings and queens of PvP. The ability of a Me to exploit weaknesses has secured that spot in all eternity.

This is the new age of mesmerism and death has nothing to do with. Prepare for purple cane slaughter!

EDIT: I wonder if the OP means dyeing instead of dying. Because Me sure as hell are dyeing in NF. All the new goodies, too much eye candy, and lotsa lotsa dyeing.

2) You can counter the paragon, but this requires full dedication of your time on your part.
As with all Mesmer builds. You don't have to shut down your targets completely, just enough to put them out of battle, until your team takes them down, or another threat comes along. The great thing about a mesmer is that 'when' full dedication is applied onto a target, that target becomes utterly useless to do anything.

You have been mentioning that energy denial works against everything, but don't forget there is a defense against energy denial with every class which is to have a negative energy set.
Remember that everything in GuildWars has a counter, even e-denial. The most important thing to keep in mind is that e-denail counters 'everything', regardless of its 'one' counter... two if you think adrenaline is a threat :P.

People still ask for people? I'm not going to comment on mesmers dying, but I do know that PuGs are dying ^^.

Yeah, PUGs are taking a hit with the new hero system available.
Thankfully some of the Elonian missions require that members split off and do things separately in order to more easily get Masters.
I hope that future campaigns involve that type of co-ordination as well, as it I feel it really adds to the depth of missions. Makes em more fun!

Yesterday I saw quite a number of people advertising for mesmers in the last three missions in nightfall. I managed to finish the game alot quicker than I thought.

Besides... whats a PuG without a mesmer...

Mesmers are still pretty popular in Prophecies for the missions you fight the Mursaat, too. A domination mesmer absolutely obliterates them, since they're all casters. When I played through those missions, I could kill 2 or 3 of the mursaat before my party had finished off the Jades. (Assuming I got heals.) I wasn't able to PuG the last mission, though. None of the groups I was in were able to even make it to the portals. Some of my guildmates were gracious enough to help me, and I think my prescense was useful. (Especially against those damned Sparks. They HURT!)

As for Factions (which I'm playing through now), I haven't had a terribly difficult time finding a group, but I'm noticing a lot more melee monsters (at least in the earlier missions), so my build feels less effective overall.

Its a long time I haven't posted a while in this forum so... I'm back... for a while...

I feared about this post was a anti-mesmer, but its like something else at the same time. What I mean is it looks like a down-side. Everyone seems a profession will die in few seconds.

Cheer up all! I don't think Mesmers are dying just because players dont want them because about the Heroes system. Let me tell you those who play in Nightfall are generally in Solo (too many #8 players to make me lags in Elona). I still saw them to be picking. I still pick them. There a thing that you have forgotten about the AI henchmen: they lure more monsters in your face when you're struggle against an army. The players dont do that (except PuGs of course).

No, the mesmers arent dying. I rather said they evolves to make them better. Mesmers still one of the few professions to be played, but its by this profession they can change the tide during battle.

Again, no, Mesmers arent dying.

-Be positive all-

Sadly true, the hero system is good and bad. Good because finally I can make Monks that know what they are doing... well, sorta... Bad because NF was a horribly lonely experience. And I have so many more chars to roll through...

Well, its because you have chosen the path to play with heroes than players (except if you need a hero to go in a mission and the invitation mission thing). It look likes you may choose between players and heroes and the choice is making by you and the players all around... or your friends.

It was a bit out of subject but if other players have chosen Heroes since AI, I rather mesmer aren't dieing, its the whole "player's teams" die in our own hands... hum... in our face I mean

Well, I just like my Monks and my Fire Nuker heroes. It saves so much time to simply add these than look for people running the builds you want and then agruing for 15min what skills to take and what skills not to take. Now heroes are still pretty stupid, they have no idea how to correctly use Sig of Devotion for example. But they are still better than regular henchies. They even chain Aegis. Oh and you should see the Ele hero use Glyph of Sac. It knows to use it with Meteor Shower and Res Chant. Too bad it has no idea when to nuke with MS.... But the good thing about heroes is that you can control their actions. It's a matter of convenience I guess.

From a PvE perspective: No, the Mesmer class isn't dying. As a matter of fact, I think the thing that's dying in Nightfall is the cookie-cutter PUG party mentality that was the bane of the PvE Mesmer in factions and Prophecies.

They way they designed the missions in Nightfall requires people to actually sort out what the best skill set to use with their character and be diverse in the party make-up. Unfortunately, with the hero system, the PUG is what's dying out. Ironic, isn't it?

Yesterday, I (with my Mesmer) got to the "kill Shiro" mission and I had 3 party invites before I even finished loading into the outpost! (Why do people think he's so tough to kill? )

Today, I had no problems getting into parties for the Abaddon's Gate mission. (too bad none could get it done!) One guy said "Wow! A PvE Mesmer! Cool!

On the other hand, I also ran into an idiot PUG today that kicked me before we started a mission because "we don't need no damn Mesmer."

You know what the worst part is? There are so few things in Elona that a ranger couldn't do just as well as a mesmer. Who needs a shutdown mesmer when Broadhead Arrow solves all problems with Ele bosses?

The only real use i've seen for a mesmer is giving Norgu Signet of Midnight so i can double team some high level bosses without the need to bother with lag issues or finding a solo build.

Perhaps i'm just not looking hard enough... but i've started to fall out of love with the mesmer.

i really dont see how, they still hold the mystery and intrigue that drew me to them in the first place. However, i dont really like the new skills that are damage dealing. Nothing against nuking, but i miss shutdown and edenial dominating everything. I know ppl still use it, but not as much with the new skills that allow for spiking. Shutdown and E-denial are wat make the mesmer the mesmer in my opinon....

Honestly, I'd take Elemental Resistance over Mantra of Flame. It doesn't require putting all my points into inspiration to use effectively.

As I was saying earlier, I prefer skills like Inspired Hex over something like Mantra of Flame or Price of Pride, because it has more versatility in how it can be used. I just wish that in future more emphasis is made on creating new skills that offer that type of versatility and this can be said for every profession. I don't understand why nobody feels the same way.

Mantra of Flame doubles as energy management, and there are far too many Thumpers out there to be taking Elemental Resistance.
